We have decided to quit and I wanted to write a few thoughts on this season - Please note this is from the perspective of a CP leader, we had a 9 man group and were fairly competetive.
First of all, I'd like to say the faction leader idea was a huge success. Combined with the respawn 8 mins after death at epics, It helped create strong fights vs both sides, and this season we didn't see many epic lockouts where people just got wiped over and over or just stayed dead on the ground, lots of good fights with the respective faction leaders both doing a good job on regrouping the smaller groups and solo players. 10/10. I would like to please request that the smaller sieges be removed when the server population is so high, as it stops all fun. In the larger castles you can move around, flank, look for ways into the castle and make plays - however in the smaller castles everyone just stands in a tiny doorway or choke and we spam AoE's blindly on eachother with a few classes - More on this below.
Overall, the balance this season was fairly okay with mages being on the stronger side, but not so much that it was broken. It's a classic story, mage vs archer, who will be OP this season? This season was pretty fair between both. Good stuff.
On the otherhand, this season has been incredibly populated and we've seen a huge influx of warlords and control classes, to the point of making the game just not fun. In the end, it's just become about who can have the most warlords and OL's and then just hide (shadow bomb) with your BD over and over, because if you play without hide then you won't even make it into 9/10 fights because your whole party is just stunned up by warlords.
I suggest next season looking into ways to keep warlords & overlords strong, but perhaps nerf their capabilities somehow - limiting the amount of them per party, as when they're stacked up multiple times it just becomes oppressive and not fun to fight against. Enemies did it to us, and in the end we also did it to them, too. Our whole gameplay was just waiting for next dance of shadow to go bomb enemies, then spawn and repeat. I have a few ideas on how to change them, but I will not post them here as it will turn this thread into "lol that idea is dumb and you're an idiot"
I was slightly disappointed with the release of temptation of abyss pieces and them being put into a custom low level zone - this just encourages people to go pve in saftey in their B grade +5 and I see no reason this should exist. Having mass pvp in the solo zone was great fun and no one wants to go farm on CDL with B Grade items. There is no reason for this place to exist, especially when you consider that new players don't even need brooches & pendants, they're one of the last pieces of gear a character will earn after their weapons, armor, augments, epics & more.
Scripting and targeting scripts are still an issue, and if you've played this game for any amount of time it's very obvious who is doing it and who is not. The admins are not stupid and they also know, so there's no reason to call people out and point fingers. It's a big shame and it's letting the server down, but for some reason you've decided to turn a blind eye. Disappointing.
My final issue would be with olympiad pathing and geodata in general - for people who enjoy this game mode .. well, it's a joke. The poor geodata allows you to kite endlessly and all offensive ablities will miss even if you're fully within line of sight of the enemy. Frustrating and not fun to play.
Overall season was a solid 7/10 for me. Lots of fun, faction leaders were great, scripters & geodata were big downsides and hopefully next season balance will be even better.
GG to Allies and Enemies. Maybe see you next season.
